SE Holgate

104th–122nd

Neighbors! We need your input!

We need to hear about your experiences in order to help build a case for improvements on Holgate. Please share stories and photos about:

  • How meaningful it would be to you to have sidewalks or other infrastructure that makes it safer to explore our neighborhood, no matter what mode of transportation you're using.

  • Issues/damage caused by reckless driving

  • How unsafe streets affect your daily life

What Neighbors Have to Say

“Holgate from i205 to 122nd is awful! Sidewalks are inconsistent / nonexistent and there’s only lighting on one side so it feels nice and sketchy after dark. First priority would be sidewalks. And then we need more crosswalks (esp 112th-122nd), then lights. Somewhere in there I’d get rid of the parking and buffer the bike lanes too.”

“There are several missing sections of sidewalk on the North side of Holgate between 104th and the 205 overpass. I live right in between two bus stops for the 17 and one stop is located on a section without sidewalk (100th) and the other is flanked on both sides by no-sidewalk properties (97th). I often walk in the bike lane to get to the bus or the max. Someone who uses a wheelchair would have to skip the stop at 100th to use the stop at 97th and would still have to travel on the street in the bike lane to get there.”

–Leigh

Above are just a few examples of the pedestrian spaces on the north side of Holgate. It’s completely inaccessible for people in wheel chairs and people with strollers.

PBOT Plans

As with many of the other streets in Lents, this Holgate has been on PBOT’s radar since at least 1998. Since then, some improvements have been made. Our goal is for the City to complete the sidewalks and crossings so neighbors can safely access transit.
